Esoteric and Nebulous

"Where do you draw the line between justice and vengeance? Forgiveness is a hard thing, isn't it...?" -Bruce Boxleitner as Captain John Sheridan on Babylon 5

In summary...

STILL have not made it to The Great Escape. The rain seemed a little too much and I had a feeling they'd close early. Diverted to Six Flags New England, which also closed early, but not before six rides on Superman (three in the front seat!), one on Thunderbolt (only person on the train) and one on Cyclone (only person on the train). My instincts were right...Great Escape closed earlier than the time by which I would have gotten there. Made the right decision, but the Comet and the new mine train still illude me. Forecast for Sunday in Glens Falls calls for 50% chance of rain...might be time to try again!

Phall Phunfest was interesting. Certain people I could name were continuing to be more distant and more aloof than ever. It must stop. Wish I knew how to make it stop. I want my friend back! Nothing more, I just want my friend back. My sales table didn't do well, either. The economy must've adversely affected it. Either that, or what I have left in my inventory just ain't that wanted. The rain was a downer on Saturday, Sunday was better. Phoenix ran beautifully. Emery made it to the event for only the second time. He missed a family wedding for it, from what I recall. The antique car ride was better than ever...how they manage to outdo themselves with the theming each year is beyond me, but they do. Oh, and I heard a very interesting story from Carole Sanderson, ACE's President. Nope, not going to tell it here, probably shouldn't tell it ever. I'll just say that it was so incredulous that if I didn't know better, I'd think my chain was being thoroughly yanked. I missed my first bonfire ever. I was just too exhausted. PPP gets longer and longer, having to get there earlier and earlier to get a sales table. It takes it out of you. Sunday started with a tour of GCI. Can't say much about that, either, but I think I have some insights as to why they only make trains for their own coasters. Space and staffing wouldn't allow for expanding the product line at this time. Which is for the best...Tom needs all the business he can get. :) Returned to Knoebels and spent the better part of the day hanging with Bill Galvin and his entourage. Once the day wrapped up at the park, I ran some errands and returned to Bill's cottage at the park for a little gathering of "friends of Bill," I guess you could say. Planned to stay for a couple of hours but didn't end up leaving until 1 am. Lots of good conversation, park trivia, and mindless speculation about the park's future (our money's on a new coaster soon....maybe not next year or the year after, but somewhere in the park's "five year plan").

Stopped at Pepe's on the way home Monday, returning to the humble abode about an hour before the Red Sox game, in which they disposed of Oakland once and for all (yay!). 'Twas a good thing to return to.

Tentatively on tap for the weekend...

Friday: Lake Compounce or Six Flags New England or sitting at home trying to get World Series tickets or some combination thereof.

Saturday: Concert up in Leominster (Dan Hart, Sponge Awareness Foundation, and (in a rare east coast appearance) Throwing Toasters), just three miles or so away from what's left of Whalom Park. :(

Sunday: Great Escape is looking very tempting, as referenced above.

Monday: Rest or maybe Six Flags New England...what the heck--got the season pass, may as well use it.

Would love to twist the arm of my little Guster fan into coming with me for one of the above, but we haven't even had our first date yet and she's reportedly not feeling well, so it's not looking likely. :( Gotta crawl before you can walk, walk before you can run. I'm just so impatient...I mean, this is a good thing I'm likely getting into here, but both her schedule and mine are so action-packed that it's hard to allign them. I'm really looking forward to meeting her, though. If we don't hit it off, fate is far more cruel than I already believe it to be.

At any rate, down the road...

Oct. 18: Would love to get tix for game 1 of the World Series, but this assumes the Sox dispose of the Yanks (they better!) and that I can actually procure tickets amidst the rest of the Fenway Faithful.
Oct. 25: Boo-lder Dash Bash
Oct. 26: They Might be Giants at the Ridgefield Playhouse in CT
Nov. 2: Closing day informal gathering at Six Flags New England

Additionally, there's an outside chance I might get to see a taping of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? at the end of the month or early next month. If I do, I'll get to audition to be a contestant and if I pass said audition and get chosen to play, the fun really begins. :) Anyone wanna be my "phone-a-friend"? I'll cut you in for a share if I need you and you're right. :)

That's all for now. 'Til next time, remember to always wear your seat belt...even if you're at home in your La-Z-Boy. Yes, that would make you weird, but I won't tell anyone, ya freak.
